Everything necessary to build, engage, facilitate, and connect a community that VALUES BICYCLING for transportation, recreation, fitness, and a sense of belonging is right here - we simply need to connect all of the dots to create a cohesive GOLD BICYCLE FRIENDLY COMMUNITY
It was my job that initially brought me to the city of Ogden, UT in the Fall of ‘12. Some five years later, that same job would take me away from the city I now loved. For seven years, I dreamed of coming back.
So now I stand at a crossroad in life. What do I want the next chapter of my life to look like? What meaningful, lasting impact can I make? How can I use the culmination of my life’s experience, knowledge, and unique skillsets to serve a community?
I relocated back to Ogden, Utah because this was the place that felt like home. This city, spilling down from the mountains felt like my city, these were my people, my community. This seemed like home. So I moved back here, and these are the dots I was connecting in my community. These were the projects I was engaged in. This is my love letter to Ogden’s bicycle future.
As it turns out, Ogden, like it’s nickname “Junction City” has been a junction for the crossroads of my life. I first met my wife, by chance, at the Lighthouse Lounge in ‘16. She used to work at the “little yellow cafe” on 25th street and we would bike around town holding hands. Recently, the winter of ‘24/’25 brought me back to Ogden for a short time. I reunited with the woman who would become my wife, and this is what the city gave me. A family, a Godly woman, a firstborn child. I received all that I ever wanted from Ogden, and now my little burgeoning family has migrated further east to North Carolina.
